Devon by Night | Surry Hills, Sydney

Alright, I’ve allowed myself to do one blog post after my first exam as a ‘treat’. But yeah, my update is a bit late because I’ve been ‘studying’. That is, if “studying” means forcibly dragging my ass to the library and staring at the screen drooling at other food blogs because you just want to escape from reality, even if it’s just for a while. Obviously, that wasn’t my original intention on going to the library. My exam period is starting to get busier so you won’t see me here for another 2 weeks or so (WHY SO LONG?!) but don’t worry, I’ll be back with heaps of updates as my plan for this holiday consists of eating, sleeping, working and more eating.

Okay, enough ranting about uni – let’s talk about some food. More specifically, food from one of my favourite cafes, Devon Cafe in Surry Hills! Can’t believe I waited so long to try their dinner menu, which is only available on Thursday to Saturday nights, by the way.

Cosmo Coffee | Castle Hill, Sydney

WOAH! Two updates in one week? Jenny’s being productive! Or more like Jenny is actually procrastinating from all the lectures she needs to catch up from the past 5 weeks but that’s okay, I will catch up in due time… (i.e. right before finals).

Anyways, if you know me, one of my dreams is to have my own cafe. I’m always on the search for the perfect one, especially ones that are local because there’s so few decent cafes around here. So when I saw decent a decent rating on Urbanspoon, I had to at least come here for a small visit, especially since The Baron was closed temporarily for renovations (I cried).

The Baron | Castle Hill, Sydney

After seeing The Baron being listed on UrbanList’s Sydney’s Top 10 Avocado on Toast article, I knew it was the next destination for my food adventures! I MEAN… GOOD AVOCADO ON TOAST? I’M SO THERE. It’s always been a place I wanted to visit so this gave me even more reason to go since it’s only a bus ride away. And a perfect opportunity to hang out with an old friend of mine.

Located outside Castle Towers, near the KFC entrance, is this neat little place that’s often quite busy (and very noisy if sitting inside) during lunchtime, even on a weekday. The place has a great, overall hip feel to it with its urban-style exterior and interior and of course, great seasonal menu that changes ever so often.

Three Williams | Redfern, Sydney

There was a period where I saw pictures of this place everywhere so of course, being sucked in by the aesthetics of the food, I knew it was a place I’d have to visit. Even if Redfern isn’t really a place I visit often. Well, that’s what food does to me… makes me a more social and active person. Some people wonder why I am even bother but if they love food as much as I do, they would understand. That and also, other than eating, I have no life.

Badmanner Cafe | Chatswood, Sydney

Now til now, there hasn’t really been a cafe in Chatswood I particularly like or regularly go to. The Asian food here is great and extensive but a bit lacking in the cafe and coffee section. What made me impulsively come here with my friend was the word in capital letters: CRONUT. I’m somehow amazed that I noticed it from the other side of the road, but I guess my food senses were strong that day. SO IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A CUTE CAFE IN CHATSWOOD that has cronuts without needing to trek all the way to the city (unless that’s more convenient for you, of course), READ ON! Read More »

The Hardware Societe | CBD, Melbourne

Okay, for the first blog post of my long-awaited food blog, I had to start off with something awesome. Even if this place is in Melbourne… and I know most of you readers (the very few that I have) are from Sydney, this is a place that you must put down on your future Melbourne itinerary.

Although during my Melbourne trip, I failed to go to many of the places I had planned to go because time restrictions, I am so glad we Google Map’d our way here. Anything for good food, right?
